How many years of nutrition course in UMS?
How much the cost of one sem nutrition course ?

Nutrition is a Science course. So it is RM1338 in UMS. It is a four-years course in UMS.

如果没有错，沙大只有food science and nutrition.没有nutrition....
目前有提供nutrition的大专有ukm,upm和usm。。。
food science and nutrition是more to food science的，不过也有读到nutrition的一些科目。。。
food science and nutrition毕业出来并不是一名nutritionist...要分清楚哦。。。。

helo, well, im studying fod science and nutriton in ums. well, our school "SEkolah Sains makanan dan pemakanan " offer 2 programmes which are food science and nutrition and the other one is food sceince and technology. in future, food service course will be offered to, but stil a long way to go....if u wan study nutrition, u may take food science and nutrition in ums coz as wat our lecturer said, food science and nutrition actualy is two different field, and ums combine it to one, to provide the students advantage, so that they know fod science and nutrition. for example, a company may be hire u a person to do the fod science and nutrition job, means u can do 2 person work, vy economical. however, the graduates may b or juz nt expert than tose who take nutriton course coz they are more specific. think wise and clear b4 u make ur hoie. indeed itis nt easy.

Pengenalan

Sekolah Sains Makanan dan Pemakanan telah ditubuhkan pada tahun 1997 dengan misi untuk menghasilkan graduan yang dilengkapi dengan pengetahuan dan kemahiran yang diperlukan untuk menggalas pelbagai tanggungjawab dalam bidang sains makanan dan pemakanan.  Bidang sains makanan dan pemakanan meliputi kesinambungan dari bahan mentah kepada makanan yang terhidang di atas meja pengguna.  Ahli sains makanan terlibat dalam kajian proses-proses pengawetan, pembungkusan dan penyimpanan makanan yang mempunyai impak ke atas industri dan spesifikasi kerajaan dalam perihal regulasi. Dengan pertumbuhan penduduk dunia yang pesat, permintaan yang bertambah untuk makanan yang sihat dan mudah, serta peningkatan kesedaran terhadap keselamatan dan kualiti sumber makanan, peluang bagi ahli sains makanan yang terlatih adalah terbuka luas.
Visi

Sekolah Sains Makanan dan Pemakanan bertekad untuk mencapai kecemerlangan ilmiah dalam bidang sains dan teknologi makanan untuk mencapai pengiktirafan antarabangsa menerusi pengajaran dan pembelajaran, penyelidikan, penerbitan dan khidmat masyarakat disamping dapat membekalkan tenaga mahir dalam bidang berkaitan industri makanan untuk menghasilkan produktiviti dan kualiti yang tinggi dalam konteks pembangunan negara.
Misi

1.     Menyediakan kurikulum pengajaran yang bertaraf antarabangsa.

2.     Menyediakan suasana penyelidikan yang kondusif bagi mendorong penglibatan kakitangan akademik dalam aktiviti penyelidikan dan penerbitan ilmiah.

3.    Menyediakan kakitangan akademik dengan kepakaran dan pengalaman yang secukupnya supaya berkelayakan sebagai pakar perunding dan pakar rujuk dalam bidang pengkhususan tertentu.
Objektif

1.        Menghasilkan graduan yang lengkap dengan pengetahuan sebagai ahli sains terlatih

           yang beretika dan bernilai murni untuk mendukong pelbagai tanggungjawab dalam bidang

           sains dan teknologi makanan, pemakanan dan perkhidmatan makanan.

2.       Menjadi pusat pengajian, penyelidikan, latihan dan perundingan yang terunggul dalam

          bidang sains dan teknologi makanan, pemakanan dan perkhidmatan makanan di peringkat

          kebangsaan dan antarabangsa.

 
Polisi Kualiti

Sekolah bergerak ke arah kecemerlangan melalui penerapan budaya kualiti dan peningkatan berterusan dalam aktiviti pengajaran untuk peringkat sarjana muda dalam bidang sains makanan dan pemakanan demi memenuhi harapan pelanggan melalui pengurusan kualiti seperti dalam MS ISO 9001:2000.

if not mistaken, if u graduated in food science n nutrition, u r not a nutritionist....but u can involve in nutrition job also....
most of the companies when they hire people, they will require bachelor degree in food science/nutrition/dietetic....some even food tech...
all of these are depend on the company.....
n i heard a senior saying that those who graduated frm food science n nutrition can take extra papers o test(sumting bout nutrition d)thn can bcum a nutritionist....most of the nutrition course offered in local uni are 4 years course as well as food science....
so food science n nutrition will cover both of these fields in 4 years also,so wut they study mayb not as deep and specific as nutrition course and food science course,but it covers both fields......
so wich 1 is better?
actually no answer for tis....
every course has its own advantages n its job prospects....
so when u choose d course, u hav to consider ur interest, ur result  n other factors....
the most important is u choose wut u like.....

ya, after grad, u can become a nutritionist or a food scientist. in our faulty, however, most of the lecturers are more to food science.

Basically food science and nutrition food technology and bioprocess is widely different. Food science is more to basic science means it is more to food nutrition syudies such as food nutriens studies...while food technology is more to food engineering....how to process food, food machinary management, food quality control and involve some physic studies.
But for first four semester students from both courses actually still studies some same basic studies and start to separate their fieds when going to 3rd year. Both of these courses are 4-year courses.

For job oppurtunies, There are in market demands, FOR food science students they will have more chances to work in hospital, research department while food tech students they will be more to work in food factory as wat i mention just now.... more to do food processing works...
Since not every uni n private colleges offers these two courses,and food studies actually is specific studies so there are job oppurtunies waiting for u....dont worry...

Both of these courses are still considered new courses in ums but food studies equipments here are new available.....

两者都是念食物的。比较细节的来讲就是包括关于食物的营养。研究食物的成分，合成的成分等等。会进行一系列的试验。
